Diplomatic Deceit
Diplomatic Deceit I just got done reading a great book. The book I read was Diplomatic Deceit by Franklin W. Dixon.

Diplomatic Deceit is a book about three friends Frank Hardy, Joe Hardy and Callie who go on a trip to meet a pen pal of Callie's.

The three friends went expecting a nice vacation and it turned out to be a total nightmare instead.

I thought that the plot was pretty weak as far as explaining where they were and what it was like.

Franklin W. Dixon's style of writing has a lot of interactions between charters and it also has a lot of actions.

I liked how the author (Franklin W. Dixon) kept the suspense up and didn't just give the ending of the mystery away instead he had a lot of little events adding up to the ending.

I feel that if you like mystery books that keep you out of your seat than you will love this book by Franklin W. Dixon who gives you the feel of a horrible nightmare.

My reveiw
I liked this book because it always kept me in suspence. It made me want to keep reading because I always wanted to know what would happen next. It is fairly easy to read and not very long, which made me like it more. The plot is a mystery about a person named Janosik being framed. The Hardy boys try and figure how and who is framing Janosik, with some help and sometimes confusion from a mysterious person claiming to be their long lost brother. One thing that could have made this book more enjoyable for me is if I had read the previous Hardy Boys books in the series. Since it is book #22, it made it difficult to know who many of the main charactres were because I was just being introduced to them. I think this was a great mystery book overall.

Dynamic Alignment Through Imagery

How to Deal With Gravity
Gravity is the most influencial force in our lives. Eric Franklin's Dynamic Alignment Through Imagery deals how to move in the gravity field.

I am not a professial dancer. But I am approaching walking the 4.0 minute mile using body images in Franklin's book as a guide for good alignment. This imagery that moves your body parts better keeps your interest. It is fun. Right now I am working on hip motions images.

How much do I like it? I bought five copies to give to my children so they could share good alignment with my grandchildren. So, they all will know how to deal with and make peace with gravity.

Embracing Excellence: Become an Employer of Choice to Attract and Keep the Best Talent

The real question is why more companies don't do this!
There is not much here that is brand new, but what are presented are solid concepts and philosophies that help create employee loyalty and business success. The book is an excellent and comprehensive look at the various methodologies to creating a company culture that attracts and retains great employees.

The basic areas of discussion are; Qualities and characteristics of a great corporate culture. Methodologies to diagnose your corporate culture. How to find great people, including solid tips on benefits, interviewing, new employee orientation, retention issues such as work/life balance, and leadership.

One of the more interesting and somewhat new approaches presented is the "Organizational MRI". Using the analogy of an MRI which looks deep inside a body for areas of concern, and organizational MRI is a process to look inside an organization for culture related issues which may impact employee loyalty and business results. It is an interesting and somewhat unique way to look at a familiar process. I also enjoyed the short section on the "worst techniques to obtain reliable information" which not surprisingly are used often in corporate America today.

The authors also correctly point out that the best way to create a great culture for success is to have the right people. In my experience as an HR professional, I have found that the fastest way to change a culture is to hire the right people who will quickly impact those around them in a positive manner. The book outlines several methods for interviewing and onboarding new employees to capitalize on what they can bring to the organization. Also, the authors make the valid point of looking for talent within the organization as well. Not new stuff, but well presented.

Overall, it is a book worth reading. The only real question is why more companies do not apply these time proven methods to build employee loyalty and business success.
